About the Owners - Dr. Roya & Patrick
We moved to Costa Rica to help as many ticos and expats as we can to see the world as clearly and as comfortably as possible.
After 12 years together and a whimiscal trip to Costa Rica in April of 2021, we decided to pack up our lives and follow our dreams to start a business together and live abroad. Dr. Roya's remarkable expertise (Seattle's Top Doctor Award 2020 & 2021!) in eye care and Patrick's 10 years of entrepneurship were the perfect blend to open Ojos Del Mar, a world class eye care clinic across the street from the beach in Tamarindo, Costa Rica.
Beyond eye care, we're passionate about supporting our local community and we accomplish this by partnering with local schools and organizations like CEPIA to donate eye exams to little kiddos who need them! We also reserve two appointment slots a week that are "pay what you can," to ensure everyone, no matter their socio-economic status, can get the care they deserve.
We live in Playa Grande with our pup, Mickey, and love to surf, boogie board, play pickleball and soak in as much nature as this beautiful country has to offer.
Dr. Roya Habibi
Medical Partner. OD, FAAO, FSLS

As the Medical Partner and co-owner of Ojos Del Mar, Dr. Habibi oversees all clinical operations. She earned her doctorate from UC Berkeley and fellowship training at Oregon Health and Sciences University. She has lectured around the world on various topics including dry eye disease and advanced contact lens fitting and is the co-host of TryNot2Blink, the world’s largest Optometry podcast, with thousands of active doctors learning from her every week.
Dr. Habibi combines modern science and research-based holistic treatments to help her patients achieve improved vision and find lasting comfort. Her clinical expertise is in:

Patrick Allen
Managing Partner
As the Managing Partner and co-owner of Ojos Del Mar, Patrick oversees all business operations for the company. He earned his degrees in Pre-Law and Entrepreneurship from UC Berkeley and soon after graduation started a design consulting agency. After selling the company's portfolio to Netsuite, Patrick then started Groopt a mobile payments database and CRM for universities and non-profits, before selling the company in 2016. He then spent 4 years in commercial real estate working for the #1 producing retail investment team in the Pacific Northwest where he was directly involved in the procurement and closing of over $1 Billion in sales.

After years of admiring the pure, raw joy his wife, Dr Roya, would bring home after helping a patient after patient improve their eyesight so they could clearly see just how beautiful their worlds truly were, he was pining for a way to bring joy to the world in the same way his wife did... and after a magical trip to Costa Rica in 2021, that's how Ojos Del Mar was born.
